Tell me
Djembe
How my soul feels
Tell me
Djembe
What’s inside of me
Tell me
Djembe
Am I ordinary or outstanding
Tell me
Djembe
What’s it gonna be
Smooth soul
Like riverstone old as the earth
Am I living underwater
Or am I living in hells basement
Am I thriving or am I suffocating
I just know I Aint gonna fake it
I wanna be like James brown
Own each and every town
I wanna be like Isaac Hayes
And ball out like willie mays
I connect with my inner Africa
Through the drums in my ears
I connect with my inner America
Through the wetness of my tears
I connect like sex
With the aliens that make contact through my divine antennae
Tell me
Djembe
How deep can you go
Tell me
Djembe
Lay down the hands on the clock
Tell me
Djembe
Tell me
Djembe
Tell me
Djembe
Ouija of the music world
Tell me
Djembe
Tell me
Djembe
Ouija of the music world
Man I’ve never heard something that diversely related to a drum. My favor it hand drum at that. Good stuff man. If any percussion instrument deserves a meaningful place in poetry its that one. I could hear a djembe going in my head as I read it. Which probably gave it a different rhythm than the one u wrote it in. BC like the saying goes to the beat of my own drum. I just started a WordPress thing last night. IIts only got 6post on it but I feel u might enjoy my poetry up there. Words an rhythm are my two favorite insturments.
