The light of the city

I hold victory in my hand
The fruit of the hills
The nectar of battles won
I have defeated the sea
And offered the Olive in return
I am one of the sisterhood
One of the finest wit
My tongue is sharper than a master’s sword
And my mind is impenetrable
To mortal men
More cunning than the snake
I do not spit venom for venoms sake
I extend my shield over the land
Over the cursed
Over those who would fight for themselves
And make no mistake
I possess my own will
Just like my sisters nine
Just like my father divine
Just like the fruit of the vine
Just like memory and time
I am serpentine splendor sprinkled with good cheer and mythical mirth
I give birth to new ideas and new ways
I pave the path that was once wilderness wild
I am the smile of a child
The magic of a dawning day
That shines bright from history’s page
I hunt like an owl
Silent and from above
While still bearing the fruit of a dove
I am Athena
Goddess of the city
And I am here to protect
