Jewel of the Wild

Stalking my prey

I slide through the grass of the savanna

Senses sharp as my phalanges

I move like liquid through nightpipes under the diamond heavens

Luck be a meal tonight

Luck be my name tonight

I have precious rare children back in my den

I am the hunter that is hunted by the noose of the food chain

I am the wonder of Africa

The jewel of the world

And through my numbers have been shattered

I am no less proud

For once I was a god

Bringer of luck

And of love

But tonight all i wish to bring

Is a meal to my children

The future of Earth’s wild jewel

I crouch low

And taste the air

I will impale my meal with noble razors

And sought after teeth

I strike from above for that is my place is the heirarchy of this land

Flying like an arrow shot from history’s bow

I soar

I strike

And in the end

I have life for life

Letting loose a regal roar that can be heard across the motherland

I bring life to those who may not have a future

Some things

Are too beautiful for anywhere but heaven
