Treedance

The tree dances in the wind

A slave to the earth

A monk to the wildlife

Giving shelter and sustenance

Asking nothing in return

The tree bends and sways

Like a gymnast perfecting their art

The wind speaks to the tree

And says be strong as I know you are

Leaves are stripped from their branch

But the tree stands steadfast and defiant

High in the Wisconsin woods

Wind howls at the forest

Giving fair warning

And whispering words of encouragement

Stay strong my friend for you are the noblest of plants

Rising to great heights

And speaking in the silence

The Ents would be proud
