The Question

She’s like a midnight raven

Devious and daring

She’ll bite you with her kiss

And leave you staring

Down your soul

Into the pit of loving

She’ll make your chest rise

Then disappear leaving nothing

She wears a disguise of lace and flesh

She wears a midnightgown of silk and mesh

She takes her time with glass of wine

When she shoots tequila she bites the lime

She’s like a book that’s never been read

Crisp pages made of pulp and dread

Her binding calloused from people who dare

To touch her poison spine there

She’s a mystery

Up in the air

Rising like pressure

Falling like a flare

Some people are boring and bland

This girl is the spice of the land

Cinnamon and sugar

Vanilla and chocolate

Humor dry like martini

Call me an alcoholic

My tongue reaches out to lick her fears

Whenever evil’s eyes unleash their leer

She makes music with her laugh

And knives with her nails

She doesn’t go tanning

She likes to stay pale

She knows a few secrets about father time

Tells them to mother Earth with reason and rhyme

She doesn’t like lies they burn good deeds

And she rides the prairie on palmetto steeds

This woman she lives in my mind

Reminding me all in due time

Someone will come close to my form

And then young peasant

You will be torn

Between fantasy and reality

You must choose

What do you want

Perfection or a new muse?
